What's Your Sign (Mason's Capricorn Remix)

Of all the hokey things to believe in, I honestly do think astrology has some truth personality-wise. On that note, I don't think I would say yes or no to someone based on what they are, but "what's your sign" has always been a great intro question, right? This track takes the question much further and goes into a straight-up boogie thanks to Mason's sexy house edit (I guess he's a capricorn...). Next time you're out, I would love to hear if that pickup gets you anywhere, but for now I think this track should do the trick.

Do You Don't You

I really like how dark and galactic this one by Haywyre feels. It's spectacularly produced and incorporates some awesome disco-like instrumentals but still keeps it modern. So much goodness swirled into one track.

Games Continued

I am one who just cannot say no to some sassy sax integrated with an upbeat house groove. It's always going to be a yes there, no matter what. That said, Bakermat really takes things to the next level with this one and the soft vocals of Marie Plassard don't overpower the magnificent beat, but blend perfectly. Love it, enjoy!

Mink & Shoes

Very super into this. Old again, but if you haven't heard it, you should listen immediately. I love how soft the vocals are and if you listen closely to the lyrics, they're pretty fantastic. So funky in every good way!

Be Right There

This is a few months old, but I don't really care because I'm still totally into it. As we know, Diplo tends to straight up slay and this track is no exception. He's integrated house sounds of today with some super 90's synths (I'm reminded of "Be My Lover" by La Bouche, a classic of course) and killer vocals. Take 4 minutes of your day to dance to this contagious beat!!!!

AMTRAC

If you haven't heard of AMTRAC, it's really time to get on this train. Heh. I first posted one of his remixes (When Will I See You Again) last January. Seriously though.. staying on track, I can't get his songs out of my head. They're great for a run, some dancing, what have you, and I can't get enough.

This one might be my favorite.. just hold on.

Shooting Stars (Cover)

Upon seeing "Shooting Stars" listed as a cover, I was immediately intrigued. For me, the original of this track by Bag Raiders became an instant classic and a staple in my musical repertoire. Honestly, it doesn't seem like Elephante changed the song this much, which is a good thing because it retains its fantastic aura with a little added electro house energy, making it all the more danceable. Thus, I can't complain.

Colour (Lost Kings Remix)

A quick little post as a hump day treat. Here's an amazing remix of "Colour" by Lost Kings, who have a pretty impressive repertoire of upbeat progressive house mixes, like their one of "Overdrive." I love a good use of keyboard/piano, which they seem to have mastered. Hope this song can get you through the rest of the week (note the repetitive chorus of "don't stop"...). Enjoy!

Outside

I would be a fool to not post this track, which is the latest single from Calvin Harris' upcoming album Motion due out November 4. It was Grimes who once said something like, "If I hate a song the first time I listen to it, I know I'm going to go back to it and love it" (or something along those lines in less than 140 characters)... but that is how I felt about this one. At first I was like, meh, this is repetitive and whatever like it's fine. And then it just kind of hits you like a crazy obsession, and that's putting it lightly since this song has been on repeat for the past two days. Upon peeping at the track list of Motion I see collaborations with the likes of HAIM, Big Sean, Gwen Stefani, and Tinashe. Wtf Calvin this sounds too good to be true. Let's hope it delivers as much as his previous and too-catchy-to-even-vocalize work.

Can't Stop Playing (Oliver Heldens & Gregor Salto Remix)

Amazing new release of the full track of the remix of "Can't Stop Playing." I just can't stop playing it!!!! Hehehe. Ignore me, I'm just delirious happy that it's the weekend. Amazing bass. Check it.

P.S. If you want more of Netherlands based Oliver Heldens to get your freaky Friday on, check out his track "Koala" that was released earlier this summer... when I wasn't posting anything.

Heroes

The self-contradictory Tove Lo (not on drugs? or really does have bad habits and has to stay high all the time? I'm not sure I get which kind of girl she wants to be...) makes her second cameo in a house song, and pretty much kills it with the help of some DJ (idk if you've heard of him), Alesso, who made me not want to raise the roof, but rather tear it up, earlier this summer. Either way, Tove Lo, I'm not sure I think you could be my hero (heroine, I guess) due to your obvious mental instability related to your boy craziness. Side note: is her name an anagram for "to love"??? Momentary mind blow. BUT, don't get me wrong, she rocks the vocals in this song as Alesso persists as one of the kings of house and continuously makes me want to dance.

Honors

John Dahlback, who I mostly know from his fire remix of "Big" by SneakySoundSystem (talk about a #tbt..) is back at it with his latest track, "Honors." The buildup is a bit long for my taste, but it gets better with time and emerges with a burst of high energy electro-pop. I'm not really sure what the title has to do with the song, but I'm willing to overlook it. Another fun dance jam that I'm sure I'll play more than I expected.

C.U.B.A

Sometimes I only really like one part of a song, and the rest is just okay. That's the case with Calvin Harris' latest single... I just fast forward to 1:30 every time and only listen to about 2:20 because the rest of the song is just kind of meh/tolerable. That being said, see how you feel about it because I'm kind of a weirdo. Calvin Harris put on one hell of a show at Lollapalooza's center stage this year and I can't wait to see what else he'll be releasing soon!

Gecko (Overdrive)

This is another song that I felt like I couldn't not post even though it was released back in May. I don't really know if the title somehow relates to Geico (I'm convinced that it does), but the beat that surrounds the vocals is just perfection and I dig the always cheesy house lyrics. But you can't deny, it does automatically make you want to dance.

Oliver Heldens X Becky Hill - Gecko (Overdrive)

You Got This

Sometimes I like house music because it is the only thing that can motivate me to go faster than my constant five miles an hour on the treadmill. This is one of those songs that mainly applies to that purpose and the title is way too perfect. You know it's legit when it gets a BBC Radio 1 premier, but I'm not sure who this Danny Howard is (where the fuck is Pete Tong when you need him).

Gold Remixed

Oooh okay. I like how Clark Kent softens up this track and makes it ooze perfection with the slow builds and sharp drops. It's kind of a song of polar opposites that work well in contrasting each other side by side. I can deal with it. Stay gold, Ponyboy.

Rage The Night Away

Clearly Waka Flocka Flame is trying to follow in Lil Jon's footsteps in trying to become a rapper that accompanies electronic/house beats. I mean, it's without a doubt severely aggressive. I'm still processing. I can handle it but I don't know if I necessarily like it. On the other hand, thanks to Steve Aoki's dirty drops, it stays true to its title and makes me want rage my face off to a ridiculous level and take things to new heights on this thirsty Thursday. Still on the fence about this one. To me, it's comparable to trying to get the best ingredients in a smoothie but coming up with a questionable brown liquid in the end... or just trying to make something work that maybe can't. It's definitely challenging in an unexpected way but at the same time I'd like to say "fuck it, why not." Update: Steve Aoki looks like a baby alien in the final version's album artwork, but yeah ok the final version is pretty dope indeed. I can deal.

Midnight Remixed

Wow, yes. Tiësto brings some trancelike magic to one of Coldplay's latest, "Midnight." I feel like he's one of the few that can work with material so mainstream as Coldplay and handle it so well (think back to the Paradise remix). This reverts back to the more calming style of house.. crazy right.. but it definitely works and is totally soothing in way that you never thought possible. After all, it's still Coldplay.

You're Mine Remixed

Fedde Le Grand takes on a Mariah Carey song... I can dig it. The build is pretty slow but it's definitely manageable because the drop makes up for it. There's really not much more to say about this because it's pretty phenomenal so okay bye.

Best Day Of My Life Remixed

Alright, so I know this song is trying to be way too motivational on its own. Like whenever you listen to it, is it the best day of your life? Is every day the best day of your life? Is it possible to make every day the best day ever??? Pressing questions here, people... Nonetheless, Gazzo's remix transforms it into something completely different and danceable that I can't get out of my head. Perfect to kick off the weekend. Check it:
