All I Really Need + Remix

Honestly I couldn't decide which I liked better of this song--the remix or the original--so here's both. The original is much slower and more unwinding, while the remix picks up the pace and transforms the vocals with additional boss-sauce bass. Either way, the lyrics are brilliant and I always love that whispery tone in a song with such a blend of electronic backbeat and bass. I found both to be equally enjoyable and hope you do too!

Free Of Fear Remixed // Com Truise

Com Truise brings their signature 80s synth style to Client Liaison's track "Free Of Fear," which gives it so much more energy with its sanguine sound. If you're unfamiliar with Com Truise, I posted more of my favorites by them below. They have a completely unique sound in using synth in the most upbeat way possible to create awesome tracks.

Client Liaison - Free Of Fear (Com Truise Remix)

Com Truise - Ether Drift

Com Truise - She Melts

Stars - Hold On When You Get Love And Let Go When You Get It (Com Truise Remix)

Uncle Joey

I'm always a sucker for a good track without vocals and this one allows you to unwind as it builds super slowly and releases in the same manner. Sounding like a simpler version of a Ratatat track, DJ Tanner spins off his own name in "Uncle Joey" (re: Full House... cut it out). Strangely enough, I'm also a fan of the rain sound effects (the most relaxing of any sound machine sound) that start the song and come in and out throughout the rest.

DJ Tanner - Uncle Joey

LSD Remixed

Nothing but good vibes from ProbCause and Chance The Rapper in this song. A good sample clearly works wonders on any track and The Hood Internet adds their always beneficial flair here.

ProbCause - LSD Ft. Chance The Rapper (The Hood Internet Remix)

Slowments

Exactly as the title suggests, "Slowments" is a layered compilation of slowed down magic. The touches of 80s synth sounds are perfect for contributing to the overall dreamlike sound of this track and at even at seven minutes long, I can't stop listening to it! Perfect way to start off a soothing Sunday.

Rhythm Of The Night Remixed

Clearly the original of this song is a classic. However, Hotel Garuda's smooth and refined remix brings it to a new dimension, with various accents of flair through the additional instrumental elements (dat sax doe). I can groove to this and hope you can too.

Corona - Rhythm Of The Night (Hotel Garuda Remix ft. AObeats)

How You Love Me

Again with the cheesy lyrics, but what can you do. The beat is solid and it follows throughout the song. Anyways, before 3LAU did his own original material, I knew him for his mashups and "Inspired By Rehab" still remains as my favorite mashup that I've ever heard, so I decided it was worth posting here even though it's like 2 years old.

3LAU - How You Love Me (feat. Bright Lights)

3LAU - Inspired By Rehab

Rising Like The Sun Remixed

I'm still sticking to my idea that most electro house songs have fantastically cheesy party-oriented lyrics, but again that's what makes them so good/perfect to peak to/catchy. With that being said, this song seamlessly streams along this ideal, using the bass as a tool with which it builds and breaks and kind of just makes me want to rage my face off...obviously.

Qulinez - Rising Like The Sun (Tony Junior Remix)

Fever

If you haven't already, you need to go get The Black Keys' new single "Fever" immediately. Their style is so striking and in this tune they integrate even more string instrumentals, which work wonders in contrasting against the heavy bass and drums. Their upcoming album Turn Blue is due out May 13, and the psychedelic album artwork makes me quite anticipatory to hear the whole thing!

The Black Keys - Fever

Best Day Of My Life Remixed

Alright, so I know this song is trying to be way too motivational on its own. Like whenever you listen to it, is it the best day of your life? Is every day the best day of your life? Is it possible to make every day the best day ever??? Pressing questions here, people... Nonetheless, Gazzo's remix transforms it into something completely different and danceable that I can't get out of my head. Perfect to kick off the weekend. Check it:

American Authors - Best Day Of My Life (Gazzo Radio Edit)

Friend (Hard Times)

Galantis' latest track does not disappoint (and neither does its accompanying freaky cat album artwork), as it continues to bring their positive vibes with surprisingly refreshing vocals and a meticulously magnificent melange of electronic beats in the background. Excellent stuff, keep 'em coming, Galantis! (See also: The Heart That I'm Hearing & Help).

Galantis - Friend (Hard Times)

All Of Me Remixed

John Legend's voice is pretty flawless on its own in his song "All Of Me," but Steve James remixes this song adding all the necessary elements for a perfect dance track. Personally, I prefer this remix to that of Tiësto, as Steve James breaks it down a little better after the build.

John Legend - All Of Me (Steve James Remix)

Holiest

As a follow-up to their track "Gooey," Glass Animals has released "Holiest," which continues to perfectly portray their slowed-down sexy style. The whispery, high-pitch vocals add a level of mystery to the broken xylophone background and leave me wanting to hear more from them.

Love Me Again Remixed

WAHOO it's been awhile since we've heard from Sound Remedy and they're back, this time with a remix of John Newman's "Love Me Again." I love Sound Remedy's slower style; they seem to break down every aspect of a song in order to explore its fullest potential. As the electronic instrumentals build with the chorus of this track, they then release into a trap-like descent, which I find pretty enthralling.

John Newman - Love Me Again (Sound Remedy Remix)

Can't Remember To Forget You Remixed // Don't Give Up

I didn't really think a song could get any better when it consists of the  delicious duo of Shakira + Rihanna, but Fedde Le Grand clearly takes it to the next level. He has been at it for quite awhile, laying his foundation in house music with the wonderful "Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit."  Released yesterday, his strictly electronic instrumental track "Don't Give Up" masters the slow build and explodes from there to give us a kick in the pants to get up and dance.

Shakira - Can't Remember To Forget You feat. Rihanna (Fedde Le Grand Remix)

Fedde Le Grand - Don't Give Up

Muscle

In his series Low Pros, A-Trak has been collaborating with various rappers. For his latest, "Muscle," he decided to work along Juvenile--that one rapper who was most comfortable asking you to back dat azz up, in case you forgot--and now he is telling us to work that muscle. It's almost inspirational enough back my own ass up all the way to the gym (key word: almost).

A-Trak - Muscle (feat. Juvenile)

Atalante Remixed

20syl is back again and continuously keeps me on my toes in anticipation for what song he'll remix next and how he'll spin it. He seems to be on fire as of late. Moreover, this track "Atalante" by The Drops brings some completely new vibes to his repertoire of remixes. This sensationally jazzy tune (complete with the sexy saxophone) is brilliantly twisted by 20syl in bass-focused and fast forwarded style.

The Drops - Atalante (20syl Remix)

This Time

After discovering Prinze George just last week and finding myself entirely enchanted by their song "Victor," I had to share their latest: "This Time." The tempo of this song has picked up a bit but, once again, the electronics in the background really do it for me as they softly contrast the silky, almost jazzy vocals. They do an excellent job of building up the beat to the chorus and just letting it go after the fact. This song leaves me wanting more Prinze George!

Prinze George - This Time

Habits Of My Heart

Jayme's young beautifully samples Sufjan Steven's "Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois" in his latest track "Habits of My Heart." The sampling is wonderfully executed: the piano elevates the song to a higher level of dreaminess and keeps it grounded as a sort of proclamation to having no resistance to love. However, the added backbeat and electric guitar give this song more R & B vibes to defer the acoustics without actually crossing over genres, formulating an awesome blend of contrasts.

Jaymes Young - Habits Of My Heart (Sufjan Stevens Remake)

P.S. If you're curious about the sample like I was, here it is by the always dream-tastic Sujan Stevens.

Sufjan Stevens - Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois

Hope

Speaking of forgetting about your troubles, check out the solid beats of Alex Metric & Oliver's latest: "Hope." I quite enjoy the repetition of the words "hope, 'cause I've learned to cope" and I can't explain why.. maybe it's because they seem different than most of the other super cheesy electronic lyrics that I've been hearing since they are, in fact, true. I think that this song takes things back to the basics for electronic music and I like that about it. It keeps things simple without getting swept away by unnecessary complications.

Alex Metric & Oliver - Hope

Rather Be

Excuse the lack of posts, I've been feeling a bit under the weather but oh is this song is so completely refreshing--I had to share. Clean Bandit's open confessional "Rather Be" is charmingly upbeat and honestly simplistic. The string that comes with the outbursting chorus and the rapid pace of background give it some extra grooviness that I can't resist as it instantly uplifts my mood. Don't let yourself fall into a funk, listen to this instead and forget about your troubles! Clean Bandit's album New Eyes is due out on May 12- I can't wait to hear it in its entirety.

Under The Stars

A Kaskade mashup? Count me in. This magical track just makes me want to dance and I'm sure it'll have the same effect on you... So get it while it's hot:

Kaskade & Thomas Sagstad vs. Morning Parade - Under The Stars

Freak

What song title could possibly be more appropriate to have a freaky Friday? I think the collaboration of players here makes it clear that this song is evident greatness. The combination of Diplo's bump-tastic beats and Steve Aoki's brilliant, yet uniquely eccentric electronica really speaks for itself. Check it:

Steve Aoki, Diplo & Deorro - Freak (feat. Steve Bays)

Crave You Remixed

I absolutely adore the original of this song, and I will admit I was never a fan of the heavy dubsteppy remix that Adventure Club released of it. On the other hand, Royal takes a more minimalistic approach in remixing this sexy yet deeply desperate track as it gets broken down by adding more bass and raising the pitch of the vocals closer to chipmunk status (but not in an annoying manner).

Flight Facilities - Crave You (Royal Refix)

The Heart That I'm Hearing

Galantis comes to us with another wondrous track: "The Heart That I'm Hearing." The piano again gives us the feel of Miike Snow but the beats in the background give it that Galantis house-ish feel. The repetition of this song is comforting in a way; however, it definitely is fitting for this freaky Friday as soon is it breaks down to give us the sounds of a heart pulsing in the background to pump you up into overdrive.

Galantis - The Heart That I'm Hearing

Victor

New York natives Prinze George beautifully meshes languid and close to desperate vocals with a soft, pulsing electronic backbeat to create something close to perfection in their song "Victor." I only have one complaint: I wish it was longer!

Ghost Remixed

I've been meaning to post this upbeat tune for awhile now, because it's one that keeps coming back to me. Sometimes you just need a relaxing day to catch up on life and things you might have overlooked and to let the intertwined stress buildup in your mind detangle and settle--this song is helping. For me this synth-y remix reinforces the positivity of the lyrical vibes. The way that this track unwinds and builds back up reiterates the unleashing energy that it brings forth.

Sir Sly - Ghost (Togetherness Remix)

Sea Of Voices Remixed

In their signature glazed-over, muted pop style, RAC gives Porter Robinson's "Sea Of Voices" a facelift. The dreamy, yet upbeat, instrumentals extend throughout the track in quite a hopeful, winding and wandering path that leads to an overall out of this world mix.

Porter Robinson - Sea Of Voices (RAC Mix)

Simple Song

In a quick two minutes and twenty seven seconds, Prelow really is keeping one of their first released songs quite simple. The heavy bass of the song provides a nice contrast against the high pitched vocals in creating the perfect melange of basic stylistic elements. This is a song that makes me feel like it's okay to sit in bed / do nothing all day... because it is.

Prelow - Simple Song

Lanes

I have no idea where this is coming from, but if "Take On Me" by A-ha is involved in a sample, count me in. Big Boi has taken to mixing his own tracks over various vintage tracks to create a very high energy blend. Mind you, the original "Lines," which features Phantogram, was already a pretty awesome collaboration. Check it:

Big Boi - Lanes (ft A$AP Rocky & Phantogram & A-ha)

Also, Big Boi released another mashup track "Part Time Hater" just a few hours ago:

Big Boi - Part Time Hater (ft. Kid Cudi & Stevie Wonder)

Paint Me Like A French Girl Remixed

I'm not sure what the phrase "paint me like a French girl" really entails... BUT these soft lyrics make for one sexy remix. The slowed down guitar and the repetition of the words are pretty hypnotic and the bits of electronica make the song a wonderful ensemble of a myriad of elements.

Breakdlaw feat. the Glitchfox - Paint Me Like A French Girl (Max Manie & Scheinizzl Remix)

Good Mistake

Mr Little Jeans is spectacular and really brings the sugar and spice in their latest "Good Mistake." The whispery vocals before the outburst of the chorus help to make this song incredibly catchy and is yet another one that I can't stop listening to. Also the name of the track is awesome, because every mistake is a good one if you can take something away from it.

Mr Little Jeans - Good Mistake

Wildfire Covered

If you're in need of a soothing Sunday, much like I am, this song is absolutely perfect. The original Wildfire is amazing, but Jeni slows it down even more and gives it a very relaxing vibe with her soft voice that gets lost in the original.

Jeni - Wildfire (SBTRKT Ft. Drake & Little Dragon Cover)

I Got U Remixed

The original of this song by Duke Dumont is spectacular enough, but Bondax just swoops in to make it extra funky. At times it seems a bit overwhelming but the overall vibes are just sufficient enough for an excellent remix.

Duke Dumont - I Got U ft. Jax Jones (Bondax Remix)

Simplethings

I kind of hate myself a little bit for liking this song so much... and the fact that it comes from the Girls soundtrack doesn't make me feel any better. Regardless, Miguel's voice is unquestionably smooth and the slow electric guitar backbeat really brings allows the lyrics to speak for themselves.

Miguel - Simplethings

Born To Die Remixed

Lana Del Rey has a lot of haters, but I am glad to say I am not one of them. Despite her stumbling SNL performance and contrary to popular belief, she is actually pretty damn good live. Needless to say, it has been awhile since her album Born To Die was released, but I still love all of the songs from it. This remix of "Born To Die" by The Two Friends gives a new fire to the song and puts the freakiness in this Friday.

Lana Del Rey - Born To Die (The Two Friends Remix)

Summer

With it still being March, Calvin Harris decided to have an early "Summer" for himself... which strikes me as pretty similar to his other recent jams. Obviously it's still very fun and exciting sounding but I'm still deciding on how I feel about it for the most part.

Calvin Harris - Summer

Tethered Bones

In this slow, soulful jam, { Talos } brings us the most delicate of vocals with a tender electronic backbeat that I can't get enough of. I particularly like when everything comes together at the chorus to form a conjunction that keeps the song going without overwhelming the sound.

{ Talos } - Tethered Bones

Met You Remixed

This amazing and old-fashioned remix by Cousin Cole & Nacey brings out the best of Misun's "Met You," making me feel like I'm strolling down a street during a sunny summer day in the 40's. If you're interested in hearing the entire collaboration, here's the whole album remixed. It really speaks for itself:

Misun - Met You ft. Sammy Bananas (Cousin Cole & Nacey Edit)

All That She Wants Remixed & Covered

Well this just makes for the perfect Throwback Thursday. Taking the two most extreme ends that a song could go, from electric to acoustic, who knew that Ace of Base would make such a comeback?

First off, I first heard DJ self help with his remix of one of my favorite songs in existence, "Lover's Carvings" by Bibio. Anyways, his potential is clear in this remix to bring extra bass and funk to any song. He delivers again with this Ace of Base Remix with help from DJ Tanner (Full House anyone...? See below for more...) and dancifies this slow melody in pretty much every trap-ish way possible.

Ace of Base - All That She Wants (Self Help x Tanner Re-Twerk)

Next, Basecamp slows down the song and brings it to a certain level of sexiness with its lead man's soft vocals in a quick cover that's just over 2 minutes. The muted guitar really works wonders as well and reminds me a bit of Miguel.

Basecamp - ATSW

The ultimate throwback.. remember when Stephanie Tanner's band played Ace of Base on Full House???

Help

Galantis consits of Christian Karlsson of Miike Snow and Linus Eklow (aka Style Of Eye) and though their styles are totally different, they come together to create something close to perfection. This original material brings upbeat vibes like that of The Chainsmokers and I honestly can't get enough. The piano really reminds me of Miike Snow's songs but the added element of electronica takes this song out of this world. I really can't wait to hear more of Galantis  (and see more trippy cat album artwork) as they release more from their upcoming EP.

Galantis - Help

**Bonus**

Galantis - You (Extended Mix)

Hero

In a quick 2 minutes and 45 seconds, this cool collaboration between artists brings some slowed down doo-wop ish sample to life. It's not much, but its carefree vibes are perfect for releasing any tension whatsoever, especially as it builds up with guitar and slows back down. I'm not even sure how to classify this song but I do wish it was longer and hope for more collabs like this in the future!

Frank Ocean + Diplo + Mick Jones + Paul Simonon - HERO

Morning Phase

I'm really mad at myself that it's taken me this long to listen to Beck's latest album  Morning Phase, which was released last month, after taking a more than 5 year hiatus since Modern Guilt. His beautiful voice is highlighted more so than ever as it intertwines within the wonderful acoustics of this album, which include numerous enchanting string instrumentals. In case you're on the same page as me, I just wanted to post some of my favorites to have on record.

Beck - Blue Moon

Beck - Morning

Beck - Say Goodbye

Cosmo Sheldrake

Since I heard Cosmo Sheldrake's first official track, "Rich," I knew this guy was something way different and special. His songs speak with an old world vibe, using various instruments, and the lyrics resemble strange, but wise, ancient proverbs. I can't quite pinpoint what it is about his style--maybe it's that I don't fully understand it--but it's easy to keep listening to his songs over and over again. His latest, "The Moss," reaches out like a  slowed down children's tale ("that woman who lived inside a shoe") and is as hypnotizing as his others, "The Fly" and "Rich." Check them out here:

Cosmo Sheldrake - The Moss

Cosmo Sheldrake - The Fly

Cosmo Sheldrake - Rich (ft. Andrea Vargas)

Jealous (I Ain't With It) Remixed

I didn't post yesterday because I was too busy watching The Sopranos and/or sleeping and because the only song I have been listening to is THIS ever since The Chainsmokers released it on Tuesday. Of course Chromeo has done an excellent job with their original "Jealous (I Ain't With It), vocalizing a sort of confessional that is often held back. However, The Chainsmokers take this song to the next level (note: the piano chords in the beginning) and build the beat fabulously to give us drops that blossom out like an awesome firework show.

Chromeo - Jealous (I Ain't With It) (The Chainsmokers Remix)

Closer Remixed

Another feel-good tune for the day, "Closer" remixed by Weird Together (great name) hits all the right vibes with the use of fabulous harmony and delicate instrumentals. I love when a remix is so light for a song with pretty heavy words.. it makes you think.

Thief - Closer (Weird Together Remix)

Magic

The latest from Coldplay's Ghost Stories album due out May 19th (with only 9 tracks.. sadface) is the enchanting "Magic." This is in a totally different style than the other song "Midnight"  that they released a few weeks ago and reverts back to the classic Coldplay style. I'm looking forward to hearing more like this from Ghost Stories-- the cheery vibes are perfect for a slow and sunny day like today.

Coldplay - Magic

Computerized

Daft Punk + Jay Z... yes that's for real. This song is rumored to have originally been a part of the Tron soundtrack from 2010, which makes sense once you listen to Jay Z's lyrics. I still can't decide quite how I feel about this song... it's a definite reflection on today's reliance on technology (guilty) and for that it is most certainly a work of art. I don't know, I mean, I don't hate it... still trying to grapple this one, which to me, is a good thing. Listen for yourself here:

Daft Punk - Computerized (Feat. Jay Z)

High Tide

I have been following Lemaitre for awhile now and I absolutely love them... and now I love them even more for their newest song, High Tide. Their upbeat groove leaves me smiling every time I hear a song from them. I honestly can't tell you how happy I am to hear something new from them--they're a breath of fresh air! Their instrumentals are funky enough but keep things simple, especially with the piano, and the lyrics are always brilliant. The oxymoronic steadiness of High Tide is enough to rock me to safely to shore. Check it out below along with some of my other favorites!

Lemaitre - High Tide

Lemaitre - Cut To Black

Lemaitre - Time To Realize

Lemaitre - Splitting Colors

And my favorite for last... EXCUSE ME PRINCESS

Lemaitre - Excuse Me

Lightning

I first heard Cash Cash when they released this bomb ass remix of Rudimental's Free and their most recent independent song Lightning does not disappoint as a followup to that remix or their song with Adrian Lux, Bullet. Granted, the lyrics are pretty cheesy, as per most newly released progressive house songs, but it's undeniably catchy and you can't help but put on your dancing pants when you hear it. If you're too lazy to click on the links for their older songs, I don't blame you, so I also put them below!

Cash Cash - Lighting (feat. John Rzeznik)

Rudimental - Free (Cash Cash x Gazzo Remix)

Cash Cash x Adrian Lux - Bullet

Addicted To You Remixed

Avicii's most recent album True definitely had some quality songs on it, but I felt like most of them didn't really reach their full potential. This remix of Addicted To You by Sick Individuals brings out the best in the song, electrifying it and making it all the more danceable. Check it out here:

Avicii - Addicted To You (Sick Individuals Remix)

Thank You Remixed

There's really something to be said for blending rap lyrics and new electronic beats without making it sound like complete shit. In a splendidly executed style, Jaytee brings us Thank You. It's almost slightly reminiscent of some of Pretty Lights' songs but takes some more unexpected twists and turns. Though the beats are heavy, this song keeps things going in an easygoing manner that is hard to refuse. Jaytee's other stuff is pretty awesome too-- he blends so many different instrumentals in ways I didn't think possible in Knock & Run and his other songs are spectacular as well, so you should probably check out his soundcloud.

Busta Rhymes x Q-tip x Alicia Myers - Thank You [Jaytee Remix]

Moment

If you've been following this blog and see this post you're probably asking yourself where the hell this is coming from. Well, yes, I (highly) enjoy rap. And yes, I know, the last solo stuff Lil Wayne released was pretty questionable... but this song goes back to classic Weezy (who do I think I am?? JK I know all the words to This is the Carter). Not gonna lie I wasn't expecting him to release something that goes back to his old style so much after his rap + rock experimental stint. Let's just say I've listened to this song an embarrassing amount of times since I saw it came out. This leaves me anticipating for more clever ass rhymes from one of the game's greatest.

Lil Wayne - Moment

Faded

The previously anonymous DJ phenom who brought us Superfriends is back-- this time with a name. The newly unveiled ZHU released another track yesterday, once again using super slowed down and repetitive vocals with the catchiest backbeat. Faded rhythmically chugs down the track of the slow train and the mesmerization factor is thoroughly consistent with his (or her?) other songs. Moreover, as the title suggests this song fades brilliantly in and out of dark and light vibes. I'm excited to hear what else ZHU has coming!

ZHU - Faded

P.S. - I never posted this, but here is ZHU's first track--a clever medley of some of Outkast's most renowned lyrics.. you won't want to miss it.

Lost and Found Remixed

I'm going to follow up on that entire post I dedicated to Odesza, because frankly, they keep bringing it. They previously remixed Pretty Light's One Day They'll Know and just released a remix of their song Lost and Found, which is apparently on the soundtrack for the movie Divergent. This one does not disappoint in the slightest. I love how they slow down around the vocals and build things back up with the exaggerated string instrumentals. Check it out here:

Pretty Lights - Lost and Found (ODESZA Remix)

SOS In Bel Air Remixed

Speaking of Bel Air (Re: Clueless), Phoenix's tune SOS In Bel Air has been given a bit of a psychedelic makeover thanks to Ariel Pink in this dreamy remix. I feel like this is the perfect soundtrack to looking through a kaleidoscope... it's kind of like a more legit Instagram filter over a song. Check it:

Phoenix - SOS In Bel Air (Ariel Pink's Krystal Bamboo Remix)

Fancy

Excuse the long hiatus in posting, I was busy belligerently catching plastic beads in New Orleans and have been recovering ever since. Anyways, if you haven't already heard Iggy Azalea's Fancy featuring Charli XCX, she just released the accompanying video, which is fabulous and highly reminiscent of the classic 90's girl movie we all know and love, Clueless. The vibes of the movie perfectly match the modern take on being, ahem, fancy AF. Roll with the homies to this catchy beat:

Iggy Azalea - Fancy feat. Charli XCX

"So, okay, I don't want to be a traitor to my generation and all but I don't get how guys dress today. I mean, come on, it looks like they just fell out of bed and put on some baggy pants and take their greasy hair (eww!) and cover it up with a backwards cap and like we're expected to swoon? I don't think so."

Thanks, Cher, for reminding me that things are pretty much the same today... That was way harsh.
