Real Love (The Chainsmokers Remix)

Okay, I'm glad The Chainsmokers are finally starting to restore my former faith in them. Although this mix takes things in quite a different direction for them, (much slower tempo, more bass, less electro house) I might just like it. The original of "Real Love" and Jess Glynne's voice is magnificent too so that doesn't hurt either. The one thing I could do without is the sax samples because they feel a little too far out of place for me, but other than that I think I dig it quite a bit. It feels cleaner, crisper, and more intentional--a good spin on an already marvelous, magical track.

Catching Up: The Chainsmokers

Honestly, I was not overwhelmingly impressed with The Chainsmokers' second release of original material, "Kanye." (I'm willing to overlook #Selfie, because it was a love/hate relationship... mostly only love because it was so bad yet so good... you know exactly what I mean.) Anyways, I don't really understand the basis of this song. The beats are good but the lyrics are pretty stupid. I respect the novel of a description that Drew and Alex of The Chainsmokers presumably wrote about the song, but if they wanted to have a song about "being yourself" and "doing you" then they could have just included lyrics more like that because I don't think that Kanye is the ultimate artist that represents doing whatever the fuck he wants and always getting away with it. He has plenty of "haters" but it's kind of for legitimate reasons, but whatever. It's not that I don't like him, it's just kind of a weird concept to me (weird celebrity worship kind of shit), but again, that's just me. They trimmed the track on soundcloud to a minute and a half (so you would be more tempted to buy it, I suppose) but this sample suffices for me, I think. See what you think:

I think I might forever prefer that The Chainsmokers just stick to their baller remixes. If you haven't heard the ridiculous original of "Drinking About You" then I don't know where you've been. Obviously, the subject is a bit depressing but you can't deny this remix is catchy af. The Jump Smokers' remix of this track was pretty dope too.

Love Jose Gonzalez, and love that they decided to remix this track. The outcome is absolutely phenomenal! Need more remixes.

Sleeping With A Friend Remixed

Ok, so I still love The Chainsmokers, but their most recent remix is not their best. But that's probably because I first hear Kat Krazy's remix of "Sleeping With A Friend" about two months ago and was just blown away. They probably were too, but they took a very different route with the song. The Chainsmokers' version seems slower, with more focus on instrumentals (quieter vocals), and much more minor but maybe that's just me. I always find it interesting to see how different DJs go in various directions with the same song. Check them both out below:

Holding On To Heaven Remixed

I would say I'm sorry for posting more of The Chainsmokers, but I'm really not. Let's just say that this song was able to give me chills today during my run in 80 degree weather. They just do a phenomenal job with this song and bring out the best in the desperate vocals to create the perfect jam. I don't have much to say other than that, so enjoy!

Bonus: if you haven't heard The Chainsmokers' set from Ultra last weekend, it's pretty dope so check it out:

Jealous (I Ain't With It) Remixed

I didn't post yesterday because I was too busy watching The Sopranos and/or sleeping and because the only song I have been listening to is THIS ever since The Chainsmokers released it on Tuesday. Of course Chromeo has done an excellent job with their original "Jealous (I Ain't With It), vocalizing a sort of confessional that is often held back. However, The Chainsmokers take this song to the next level (note: the piano chords in the beginning) and build the beat fabulously to give us drops that blossom out like an awesome firework show.

Young Hearts Remixed // The Chainsmokers

Hey remember when I posted that song Young Hearts by Strange Talk a few weeks ago??? Well yeah it's back with a fantastic twist, with help from one of my favorite DJ duos, The Chainsmokers. The song, as I previously wrote, was pretty spectacular untouched, but this remixed just gives it a little more love with some dope drops that will undeniably make you want to dance.

Also, here are some more of my favorites by The Chainsmokers, who add excellent elements to songs in each and every one of their remixes.
